I have a 2month old that was taking 120mls up untill last week, i just put her up to 150mls, it doesnt seem enough for her though, She still looks for more after this, I do not want to over load her tummy but its obviouse its not enough for her as she cries an constantly looks for more, She was on 3hourly feeds but now she is waking every 1 1/2 to 2hours I try to distract her or even give her a little boiled water but nothing seems to help as she will keep crying untill its her feed time again.

  1. I would listen to your gut.You are her mother and you know better than any child care manual.Every child is so different, and you know what she needs.Just for the record, my daughter was drinking 180mls at that age.Just try giving her some more and see how she handles it.

  2. She could have growth spurts ,it's known and common in babies they experience during the first few days at home and around 7-10 days, 2-3 weeks, 4-6 weeks, 3 months, 4 months, 6 months and 9 months (more or less). Babies don't read calendars, however, so your baby may do things differently

when my baby turned 2 month she took about 150ml every 3 hours and then when she turned three month old she extend that to be 150ml every 4 hours  and she is now nearly 5 month she takes 180 every 4 and half hours ,so don't worry babies don't get on schedule feeding not at least b4 3 months old, trust ur babies needs and it will get better with time  and gratz for having a baby :)

  3. First of all, don't give her boiled water! All it does is settle the urge for a while, has no nutitional value, but the end result is that she ends up hungrier!

My 2 month old is the same as yours, but he's been diagnosed with lactose intollerance so he's just got his appetite back after being switched to a diff formula, so I'm not too sure. But my first born was on 150mls every three hours until his 9 weeks, then he went up to 210mls every 4 hours. But he started sleeping through the night then! If your little one is sleeping through the night, or gearing up to, then they have to consume more during the day to make up for the bottle they're not having at night! You have to persevere. It's possible that she just wants to suck on something, so try and give her a dummy (or pacifier!) and see if this helps (relax, once she's established in her feeding you can throw the thing away!)

Also try making sure she has something else to do, like playing in a play pen looking up at a mobile or something. Dangle things that make noises and see if she likes to play for a bit! If that still doesn't work then once she's been fed and she's played a bit, take her out for a walk for a while until she nodds off and has a sleep!

If that fails, make your bottles 210mls, see how much she has and how long she goes inbetween feeds. If it's still rediculous, then she may be one of the few babies who need switched to a hungrier baby formula. My son ended up on this at four months!

    Hope i've helped.

  4. Your baby is trying to tell you something, we read too much of what we 'should' be feeding, just remember that there are loads of guidlines and every child is different, listen to your bub.

She is trying to tell you she's still hungry. My little girl was on 180mls when she was only 3 weeks and she's preferctly healthy.

  5. i have 5 month old twin girls. between the 2 of them, they finish 12 900gr tins of milk for the month, 3 boxes of porridge & 60 jars of Purity food. oh, they sleep throughout the night, so thats just their daytime meals

  6. Feed her what she wants.  Babies will stop when they no longer want or need more.
