  2. Hi Taylor,

You didn’t mention why they are pulling the tooth. If it just a generally extraction you will probably receive 2 to 4 shots, pretty much what Kayyy Bee said. Unfortunately, if the tooth is abscessed it may take more shots. Just because the tooth is swollen and already sore the shoots are going to hurt, but not to the point of freaking out.

I have had many shots for tooth work and they all sting a little but nothing prepared me for the pain of the shots to my infected tooth. In fact, the first dentist gave me like six shots and could not numb the tooth. The next day my family dentist gave me about six more shot and the tooth fell out. After it was all over I realized that my fear caused the pain not the shots.

Still, I found that I created most of the pain myself by constantly worrying about it. I had mentally worked myself up and felt the pain before I was touched with the needle. Even if you had a bad experience with the dentist does not mean that all of you experiences will be bad. I look at it this way: If you really think it is going to hurt then you better believe that it will. On the other hand, if you feel that all shots hurt and this one is going to hurt almost as bad as the others did then it will be OK. Don’t worry yourself into a sore mouth if you don’t have to.

My biggest problem is the sounds that my teeth make when pulling my tooth. That sends me up the wall. Now the dentist put me to sleep whenever I get a tooth pulled. As far as I’m concerned the additional couple of hundred bucks, to put me out, is worth it. I have had both a shots and some form of gas. They both worked well although, I still prefer the shots. You pass out, they pull the tooth, you wake up a little groggy, it wears off fairly fast and you are on your way. It only seems like a few second that you are out but it could be as long as a half hour or so. Just tell everyone you want to be put to sleep.

You will not have the mental suffering that you are going thru now nor the pain of the shots because they don’t give you any with Sodium Pentothal. They use truth serum for the medication to put you to sleep. Don’t worry, not enough is used to make you say anything incriminating.

Lots of luck with the tooth.

  3. ask for laughing gas.. they will probably give it to you. Just ask in advance. The shots are to help you , trust me.. ive gotten teeth pulled about 5 times as a kid and one time the shots didnt work all the way and the pulled the tooth and it hurt so so bad. Ask them to put extra numbing gel on your teeth before the shots , and let them know that your nervous. Maybe before going to the doc. take a Valerian Root pill- available at target. Its just an herbal supplement that is supposed to calm you down and when i take 2 it really works for me. It will not interfere with the doctors because its just an herb.

  4. when i was in 4th grade i got 2 teeth and a root pulled it took like 1/2 hours and i got 3 shots i remember hitting the dentist cause i was in so much pain....sorry if i scared you:( but i think youll be okay you will be better before you die:)

  5. Just try not to think about it =/ I got two of mine pulled when i was 11... The shots were the part that hurt the least... then the tooth pulling, then AFTER hurt like h**l. But it was over and no more pain after a day. They gave me 5 for each tooth... 10 total. After the first few you don't feel it that much. good luck!!!

  6. depending on where the tooth is located anywhere between 2 and 4.

they just need to numb the area around it.

  7. How many depends on which tooth they're going to extract and how well your body responds to the injections. Sometimes, the dentist has to give you a second round of injections if your tooth doesn't fully numb. Better than having him try to pull a half-numb tooth. Trust me on that one.

The shots aren't that bad, though. They sting a little bit, but stop just a moment later. Just take a deep breath and exhale slowly while it's happening. You'll be fine by the time you run out of air.

  8. I got three teeth pulled like two weeks ago just let them give you the shot. The shot is a small prick they gave me more than one but once you have one you can not feel the other ones because its already numb. But it does hurting getting teeth pulled i had two valume and laughing gas and shots and it still hurt it took 4 hrs
