  1. Please don't get any from a pet store. Pet stores are supplied by mills and backyard breeders. Most pet store animals are sickly, undersocialized, and (in the case of females) often pregnant.

Rabbits are super overpopulated right now, you should try rescuing: http://www.petfinder.com

  2. Don't get one from a pet store. Try adopting one in your area.

  3. They range from 50 dollars on up depending...too much...IF you really want one, go to a breeder, they sell for about 10 to 20 dollars.  Contact your local 4H program to get a seller in your area.

  4. Expensive in the long run. They buy their animals from breeding mills. They are usually sick and/or pregnant.

  5. About $15-$20. Please be aware though that this is not the only cost that you will face when purchasing a rabbit. Other essentials are a spay/neuter (around $35-$50), cage, food, bedding, accessories, etc. so be prepared for all of that!

    Hope this helps!

  6. Way too much at any price.  You could get a well-bred, good tempered, well-handled, purebred, show quality rabbit for the same price ($50 - $99) from an experienced ARBA breeder/exhibitor with good lines (ARBA is like the AKC but for rabbits, not dogs).  They'll sell you one of their pet quality rabbits from the same litter as their show hopefuls for $10 - $20.

Either buy from a good breeder or consider adopting from a local shelter.  Enjoy your rabbit!  :)

Add'l:  I whole heartedly agree that pet stores is not a good place to get a rabbit.  The rabbits at Petco and Petsmart are from mass breeders that breed to make a buck, not a good rabbit.  Pet store clerks are infamous for giving incorrect info on the rabbits they sell which too often results in the death of the rabbit and a hole in your pocket.

When buying a rabbit, use the same guidelines you would when buying a dog.  Go with the good breeder - active in their national breed club, or buy from a shelter.
