Okay, so I'm a freshman girl and I started really getting into running this year. Like, all three seasons, xc, winter track, and spring track. I've been improving and I'm really pretty happy with my times, but I have no idea where I'm going. Family friends and relatives who are into running say that I have a lot of potential, but let's be honest, how truthful are relatives? And how often will family friends say things to make you feel good? xD

So, 9th grade girl and my times are as follow:

800- 2:27

1600- 5:37

3200- 12:30

5K: 20:31

I just really want to know how much potential I actually do (or do not) have. I figured that, as people who do not know me in any way, you guys are more likely to be honest with me, y'know? xD

  1. ya i definetly think that you have potential - definetly stick with it. ---

i think that your best time out of all of them is your 800 time and then maybe your 5k time - but they are all good

i would continue training because with time, training, hardwork, and dedication you will only get better.

but seriously - they are right and those are good times

next year ---- you should focus on going::::

    800 - 2:20 ish

    1600 - 5:20

    3200 - 12 min or sub 11

    5k - (on a flatter course) 19:30 ish

those might seem fast but you will be surprised because i 100% think you could do it

you have A LOT of potential so keep it u[p

    good luck

  2. wow thats fast. you have alot of potential especially b/c you still have 3 to 4 years of high school track remaining.

  3. I'm in 8th grade.

    800- 2:39

    1600- 5:38

    5K- 20:14

  4. you're very good, and Should improve, it all depends on your coach.

there are far too many coaches out there that would see a talented kid like you and over train them, and get no results

  5. some girls dont improve after there freshman year, but many do. Those times indicate you arent quite in good enough shape for the 2 mile, my sister could only run a 230 in the 800, but her 3200 time was 1145, perhaps u should increase your weekly milage if u wish to get better in the 32.

as for potential, stay dedicated and your times will most likely get better, also doing some weight lifting is a good idea (key word is some, really jacked girls are scary)

  6. Well next year if you really start training hard I think you could do pretty well.  No offense but your times this year were good but not really impressive.  I think that these would be some good goals for you to try to get next year.

    800- 2:20

    1600-5:28

    3200- 12:10

    5K- 19:59

Keep trying hard and good luck!
