How Much To Charge For Scanning,and Transfering Photos To Dvd?

Hi,

I'm scanning 500 pictures,putting them on dvds,and adding audio,and special effects to it for someone.I was wondering what is a good price to charge?Thanks for any help.

  1. Sounds like it could be a slide show. There are people who do that type of work, try on line photography, etc.

    Ask what 500 photos on DVD would cost with shipping. I believe the pics would have to be approved by your client before attempting to finish the job. A price for your labor per hour may be a good start.

    Then decide what your time is worth and take that times your hours.

    I've charged as little as $100 (it wasn't a big job) and charged much more depending on how much work I have to do, what quality they want, etc. For the $100 job it was a simple scan, make a slide show add music. They knew what they wanted, what order the pictures were going to be in, and what music they wanted.  The jobs that cost much more means they don't know what they want and I have a lot of work to do, and have endless meeting, and do a lot of versions of the slide show with slides in different order with different music, etc, sigh. Basically if they know what they want, I can tell them upfront what it will cost, if they don't know then I give them an hourly rate.
