  1. I drive 500  miles a week and spend 70 bucks on average

  2. About 28 bucks a week, but I can lower that if I run all my errands at 1 time, drive a little slower, check the air pressure in my tires, keep a clean air filter, and try not to run the air conditioner.

  3. Right now, I'm spending about $200/wk on fuel.

Back in January (When gas was $1.75/gal, no, seriously) I was paying about $125/week.

The best things that I've found to help my mileage are:

    1) Use cruise control. Since I do a ton of freeway driving, using the cruise control usually keeps the engine running at a lower speed than controlling it by your food.

    2) Don't floor it when coming from a stop. You'll suck down less fuel.

    3) Remove roof racks. On my Escape, the roof racks are removeable, and this added 1mpg.

    4) Upgrade filters, and check fluids. The basic maintence at the recommended times will help your fuel mileage. Upgrading your air filter to a lifetime air filter (such as K&N) will help your mileage.

  4. I don't drive much so I'm not sure what my bill is, but there are things you can do to save.

--slow down especially at higher speeds (don't go 90 on the interstate)

--no jack rabbit starts at stop lights

--ease into stop lights rather then speeding up to them and hitting the brakes

--keep tire air pressure within the recommended range

    --have a clean air filter

--if you can walk or ride a bike to run some errands - do it - I live in the city and should do this more

-- this may not be for everyone, but I have a car that requires premium fuel.  So when I go on long trips I'll mix the 93 octane with the 89 (mid grade) for an average of about 91 octane in my tank.  I'll pump 8 gallons of high octane with 8 gallons of mid grade each time I fill up.  The savings are small, but enough to buy a cheap meal when I'm traveling.

  5. As an inspector of car in Lemon Law suites I do around 300 miles every week but to lower the cost I have learned to drive 55 it really works, drive slower and don't be in a hurry to pull away from a stop. God Bless

  6. I usually spend around $40 a week on gas...my commute is just over 70 miles each day.  I try to avoid rush hour as much as I can...I get to work about an hour and a half before I start, then go to the gym afterwards to kill an hour or two.  I also try to not exceed 65 mph, but sometimes traffic is moving fast enough in all the lanes that I'd quickly become an obstacle if I don't do at least 70.

  7. I spend about $35 every 3 weeks or so. I live in Key West, my work is less than a 1/2 mile away. If I need to go somewhere on the weekends I usually ride my bike.. I put less than 2 miles a day on my car... But my car also gets about 35 miles to the gallon.. WOO HOO!

  8. How to lower your driving costs:

    - Check your tire pressure.  Underinflated tires kill gas mileage.

    - Make sure you don't have unnecessary weight in your car--  Clean out any junk in the trunk.

    - Combine your trips.  Instead of taking individual errand trips on separate days (to the bank, to the supermarket, to the laundromat, etc.), do all the errands on one trip in one day.

    - Learn to coast as far as possible to stop signs and red lights, rather than having one's foot on the gas pedal all the way and braking hard when reaching those stop points.

I spend about $30 every 1.5 weeks on gas.  When gas prices get so high that I'd have to spend $50 per week, I'll probably put up with the inconveniences of using public transportation more.

  9. Owning a towing company - and a full on custom shop - runnung for parts all the time, not to mention the 35 mile 1 way commute to the shop, and the wife also drives 36 miles 1 way to college.

My gas card bill is roughly 800.00 per week
