Question

How much does it cost and what do I need to do before I can become a foreign exchange student? I live in the U.S. and want to go Ireland. Other than going and talking to my counselor about what needs to be done and the cost, what are some other ways to find out?

Costs of living are very high in Ireland, you won't be able to support yourself with a part-time job, I'd say costs of living are about 40% higher than in the US and the salaries are quite low...so think about it carefully

most of the time exchange students only need to have money for everyday expenses , food, clothing, etc...the host family provides the housing at no cost..your guidance couselor will have more specific information for you.  Here is a great place to research...

I'd recommend contacting the Irish embassy. In my experience they are very helpful, friendly people wherever, they will certainly have the relevant contacts for you.
