  1. "Skycatcher"

  2. There is no airplane known as a "skycatcher."  I'll take it as a starting assumption that you are referring to the Cessna Skymaster.  That's the twin engine airplane with one engine on the front and one at the rear of the main fuselage.  They are excellent and very useful airplanes.

Decent Skymasters start at $150,000 on the used market and go up to $800,000 or so for various conversions and modernized airplanes.

It's hard to say about any given year, but the ownership cost on most piston twins works out to $2,500 to $3,000 per year.

You can find all the information you want on the internet.  A search on "Cessna Skymaster for Sale" will bring up many listings, and there is a Skymaster Owners Association (actually probably more than one such organization) you can also find.  They will have information on ownership costs, and people you can correspond with.

    Good luck!

  3. The Cessna 162, or Skycatcher, is Cessna's Light Sport Aircraft.  They are still in certification phase, so the only way to buy one right now is to get in line for a new one.  I have seen positions selling for $110,000 to $120,000.  Deliveries are slated for the last half of 2009... So if you wanted one now, I would guess you're looking at a 2011 delivery unless you pay extra to buy a position for an earlier one.

Maintenance will likely run a couple thousand a year and insurance a couple thousand more.  Hangar fees depend on where you are basing it.  Fuel depends on how much you fly it.

  4. What is it?
