How do people remain recruits in Halo 3 even though they play and earn experience and skill points? Also, I know I'm a dork. I'm just curious.

  1. This is how you remain a recruit. as you know, the first game you play makes you an automatic recruit. however, these select few people continue to have 0 exp whenever you look at their name. this is because these people go into social slayer games and quit out to lose experience. it is called boosting, due to the common belief that being a recruit makes a person level up quicker. however, it does not. THE ONLY REASON THEY ARE RECRUITS THAT HAVE HIGH LEVELS IS BECAUSE THEY PURPOSELY QUIT OUT OF GAMES. sorry if you don't believe me, but when you look at their service record at bungie.net, you'll see that they have NEGATIVE experience. one example is my friend, here's a link-http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Halo3/Defaul...

see how he's a lvl 36 with negative 12 experience? that's because he quit out of games on purpose. he still levels up after quitting, and he stays a recruit with negative experience.

  2. People who boost (skilling up) If they are losing, they just quit the game and get the - exp for quiting, but they dont go down in skill.

  3. I think its because you need a certain amount of skill points to rank up, like when you see lieutenants with all those gold bars under their badge, its because they haven't progress the skill point enough to be able to rank up.

  4. You either don't play a lot or play custom games only. Also, you could get a new account. This way people will think you suck when you are good. I don't think your a dork :]
