I'm going to France this summer and I really want to get my lip pierced. Does anybody know how old you have to be to get it without a parent there? Thanks :]

At 18 you are free to do whatever you want without parental permission in France.

Even though there is no specific legislation in France, most professionals will refuse to perform a piercing on a minor (-18) without discussing it with a parent first and will not pierce anyone under 16 even with parental consent. They want to be sure that a person is mature enough to understand and follow the post-piercing care protocol to avoid infection and promote normal healing.

If you find someone who does not apply these self-imposed rules, stay away from them! They may not respect other rules when it comes to hygiene or may not be experienced enough to do it well. A really professional and good body piercer will have enough clients that they won't accept to do anything at any cost.
