How Old Is My Infant? (Might Sound Stupid LOL)?

Question

My baby girl was born june 3, 2008. My due date was June 9.. but I had complications and had to be induced. But.. I look at the calender and try to count weeks.. but it doesn't come out to be her birthday no matter what. Sound stupid? I don't know though. To Me I was counting every which way I could figure out and nothing came out to june 3, 2009. What am I doing wrong?? How many months is she now?

Her birthdate is the day she was born. It doesn't matter when you were due. She will turn one year old on June 3, 2009. Today, she is 72 days old, or 10 weeks and 2 days, or two months and 11 days old.

You mean you are counting the time from when you had s*x until it was supposed to be born? And it's not coming out to 9 months?

Explanation #1:

Some men have so-called "super sperm", which can last 2 weeks. Normal sperm usually lasts about 3 days. So maybe he has some sort of super sperm. This can throw things off slightly. Call Guiness Book of World Records, you might be on to something.

*lol* There are 4.3 weeks to a month not 4 ;-) (365 days in a year is 52.14 weeks.  365 days / 12 months = 30.42 days in a month.  30.42 / 7 days in a week = 4.34 weeks to a month)

On July 3rd she was 1 month

On August 3rd she was 2 months.

Now she is 2 months and 1.5 weeks (ish) on the 17th she will be 2 months and 2 weeks.

I think after they are several months old it doesn't work to go by the weeks anymore. Go by the third of each month. So I'd say she is 2 and a half months old now.

Just take the day she was born (June 3rd), and go to July 3rd - 1 month. Go from July 3rd to August 3rd - 2 months. From August 3rd to September 3rd is 3 months. Get it? LOL

I had a hard time figuring it out too. I went as far as asking the doctor, but now I get it!! Don't feel bad, every new mom had troubles doing something, no matter what it is. Even the most powerful super mom has problems. =]

I don't really understand what you're asking.

If you're wondering why weeks don't add up to months exactly- it's because a month is (aside from februrary) 30 or 31 days.  That's 4 1/2 weeks.  A week is 7 days- 4 weeks is 28 days.  Is this possibly what's messing you up?

If she was born June 3- then on July 3, she would be 1 month (but she would be 4 weeks, 2 days old) .  She was 2 months on Aug 3 (but she was 8 weeks, 5 days old).  She is about 2 1/2 months old now.

What do you mean by nothing comes out to June 3, 2009?

10 weeks and two days, You cant really realy on months at first. Young babies ages are counted in weeks to better keep track of development and stuff. Or, if you want to tell people in months, count 1 month for every 4 weeks old she is. After 3 or 4 months though counting weeks is not as important and you cant just count the months by the date. So August 3 2008 she would have been 2 months old.

Ha - I was going to ask the same question today!  Do we go by weeks or actual months - in your case the 3rd to the next months 3rd.  Or do you go by weeks?  My daughter is 19 weeks old so she is almost 5 months old.  But... she was born on the 31st so is she not officially 5 months until the 31st of this month??  Very confusing!

I always go by weeks, it seems to make the most sense to me, but like you said it doesn' t add up to exactly a year!
