How Real Madrid should play in the Super Copa? (Part 1)
Real Madrid are going to be hosting the first leg of the Super Copa. The Los Blancos won the Copa del Rey last season and that is why they will be facing the Spanish Champions Barcelona. The game is going to be the first El Clasico of the season as the last
season witnessed five El Clasico’s.
Barcelona mostly triumphed in the previous season. The Catalan Giants won their first fixture 5-0 against Jose Mourinho’s men. Then a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu meant that Barcelona easily won the Spanish La Liga.
Later, the two squared it off in the semi final of the UEFA Champions League. The first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu was won 0-2 by the Catalan Giants. Real Madrid didn’t have an answer to the two-goal thrashing in the second leg and that match was drawn
1-1.
The Copa Del Rey final was won by Real Madrid. The match went into extra time and a header from Cristiano Ronaldo sealed the game as Real Madrid won 1-0 in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863.
While playing against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 in the first leg of the Super Copa, Jose Mourinho has to keep in mind the results he achieved last season. While trying to keep possession of the ball and trying to play an attacking game against the Spanish Champions, Real
Madrid suffered throughout the previous season.
The first fixture against Barcelona took place at the Nou Camp. Barcelona won the match 5-0 and Jose Mourinho tried to play his usual 4-2-3-1 formation. The Los Blancos played their usual game and tried to move the ball around in the midfield but Barcelona
were simply too superior and they didn’t let Real Madrid come near them.
With approximately 65% possession of the ball, Barcelona won the first fixture 5-0. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 did not score a single goal but he was able to provide his team with two assists while performing deep in the midfield.
Jose Mourinho did his homework the next time the two sides faced each other. The formation was the same but the players were different. The defence line was changed as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Albiol and
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricardo-Carvalho-c30973 formed a partnership in the centre back position.
The Portuguese star, Pepe was played in the holding midfield position. This was a vital change made by Mourinho as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670 was made to mark Xavi Hernandez and with Xavi not being able to find a lot of space in the midfield, Barcelona found it hard to create
chances.
Pepe was joined by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sami-Khedira-c32325 in the heart of the pitch. The three midfielders were able to block down the Barcelona midfielders
while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 and Angel Di Maria formed the attacking trio.
With Barcelona moving the ball around, the Los Blancos had a more direct approach .With the ball coming to their feet, they knocked it forward and the fast strikers would try and counter.
