I've been looking to buy a new TV, Vizio VU32L HDTV10A, but am wondering about the reliability of the Vizio brand. I would just like to know if anyone has had a lot of trouble with Vizio, and if they had, how helpful was Vizio's customer service.

  1. avoid Vizio at all costs I've heard many stories of people buying them taking it home and it not working. They are not a reliable brand and they have a very poor picture quality. Go with either a Samsung or Sony Lcd. Might cost a little more but your going to get a much better picture and a more reliable tv.

  2. Vizio's reliability has improved since its introduction, but it still does not match the reliability of Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, Sharp or Toshiba.

In terms of service, Vizio does not hire its own techs for warranty service. Instead, Vizio relies upon third party techs to perform in-home warranty service on 30" and larger TVs. At Vizio's discretion, a problem can be deemed non-repairable in the home and you will be stuck with shipping costs from your location to their site in Irvine, California. Also, the TV must be shipped in the original packaging material. If you did not save that packaging, Vizio will require that you purchase approved packaging material before you can ship your TV to California. Vizio will pay the shipping to return your repaired TV.

All parts are warehoused in California. If the thrid party tech can perform in-home service, you will most likely encounter a delay due to the parts shipping from California for all but the most mundane of repairs.
