Follow the rules and don't try to invent your own physics and biology laws, it's safe. Try to bend the rules, you get hurt.

How safe is flying? Do it without wings or an appreciation of the risks and rules, it's just the same.

Scuba diving is an extremely safe and enjoyable activity.  The various training agencies all strive to make learning to scuba dive not only easy and accessible to all, but safe.  Throughout the diver's first scuba course and in each course they take after that safety is stressed and reinforced in every activity.  

When on vacation at a dive destination or on your local trips where you live every divemaster, shop owner, boat captain and instructor you cross paths with also continuously reinforces the basic safety oriented tips taught in these classes.  Safety is not just a good idea within the scuba world but what our sport is based upon.

The equipment used in today's scuba diving world is easier to obtain and more convenient, comfortable and functional than at any other time in the sport's history.  There are also far more choices for the diver than ever before with new and exciting equipment manufacturers appearing on the scene every year.  The #1 thought put into each and every piece of gear they make first and foremost is the diver's personal safety.  

In short, every aspect of scuba, it's participants, it's training, and it's equipment make scuba one of the most enjoyable and safest activites you can engage in.
