  1. nope, at least probs not in the sense your thinking.

ISPs use a nifty loophole in the way us computer folks use loads of acronyms.

Kb is Kilobits, whereas KB ( like on hdd) is Kilobytes. and theres 8 bits in a byte.

so with any ISP speed divide it by eight to get the true speed.

so 512kb/s is 64KB/s, if you want 512KB/s you want 4Mb/s.

hopefully this isnt too confusing, its the ISP's fualt if it is :D.

  2. first of all, you will need:

    http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-fre...

    and:

    http://www.gigaget.com/download.htm

i'm afraid that that is all you can do. there are always going to be problems with an internet connection that slow it down... such as the file host's server running slow (glitchy or lots of other people using the same server), the internet connection between you an the host bugging up a bit, or other things on your computer using the internet (constantly checking for updates or just being ready for when you use it). and maybe disable a few things using the internet, including the website itself you just downloaded from for maximum speed. also, downloading from microsoft's website is strangely fast for me when it comes to downloads... so try to use their website.

have fun with your quicker downloads, hopefully =D
