Look at the underside of your wrist. If your veins are green, you are definitely warm. If your veins are blue, then you are most likely cool (and I say most likely because the best color for my face is NC15 in MAC, which is actually warm). You might also be neutral. I recommend going to a MAC store or counter (usually in Macy's) and asking them to color match you. They'll know if you are warm or cool.

Undertone may be warm (yellow based) or cool (blue based).  If you look at the green on the top of this website it has a lot of yellow in it and so is warm whereas the red of the Yahoo sign is quite blue and so is cool.

To find your own skin undertone you need a selection of cool and warm toned fabrics.  Stand in good light and hold each peice of fabric against your skin in turn.  Decide if the colour makes your skin glow and your eyes "pop".  Once you've done this with all the different colour fabrics look at the ones which make your skin glow and decide if they are predominantly warm or cool in tone.  If they are warm so is your skin and you need yellow based lipsticks etc.  If they are mainly cool you're skin is blue based and you need cooler lipsticks.
