I have searched the internet trying to find a guide that can help me solve the red ring of death, but most of the repair guides I have found did not help one bit. I seen the youtube video on the little trick were they wrap the towel around the xbox 360- does that really work? because it doesn't make sense to me - how can wrapping a towel around your xbox 360 help fix the red ring of death? what do you guys think should I try it or not?

  1. Lol Dont be stupid enough to do the towel trick that will cause more damage and can make it permanent you need to know hardware to fix it cause the heat has loosen the GPU in the 360 cause the heat sink isnt big enough so you would need to open it up and fix that there's video's on youtube on how to do that

  2. you can first go to the local game store and ask them yes that means going outside or you can do the towel thing cause you are not going to lose anything right

  3. When you say red ring of death I will guess that you are talking about the three lights because that is what most people refer to as the red ring of death. As far a I know you could damage your xbox 360 for good if you do the towel trick. I did some research for you and I did find a site that does some xbox 360 repair guide reviews. I would recommend that no one try's those repairs that are on youtube. So I guess visit the source and let me know how it went.

  4. yea call 4 my xbox it takes 3-4 weeks to get back but you get a free month of xbox live

  5. To fix ur xbox u have to put lotion on it and rub it really hard to make it firm, then put a towel on it and blow it , make sure u blow hard or it wont work, ive done this tones of times, and it has kept me from forfeiting to  a ps3 wich is really catching my eye i might even say its better HOLY **** WHAT AM I DOING

  6. Do not use the towel trick! Like everybody says it can damage your Xbox 360 more. If the Xbox is under warranty send it back to Microsoft to get fixed. If not fix it yourself. I think the X-clamp repair is the best. There are lots of guides out there that explain how to do this. Comparison shop before you buy a guide. Here is a site that does a side by side comparison of Xbox 360 Repair Guides http://www.squidoo.com/xbox360repairguid...

    Good Luck

  7. Panther is 100% right. your best bet is to contact microsoft. the towel trick works sometimes, but after a while the rings come back. like he said, it's a temp. fix.

  8. I know this worked for the 3 ring many times, not sure about 1. So try wrapping it in towels with just the power plug in and let the front of the console show only. maybe like 3 heavy towels. Leave it on the 360 for about 20-25 min. After that turn it off. Then let it cool for about 20-25 min. Then plug in all wires and try to turn it on. If it turns on with the start up no problem and should be fine for a limited time.

This works for what i heard about 4 weeks or longer. In the future If it starts doing it again, you might have to do this again. but it will eventually need a fix. So you might want to google what the 1 red light does and things. Eventually try the repair.

if that doesn't work you have to call them they will send you a box to put it in they will pay for everything hop3 i helped

    Good Luck!

  9. Do not try the towel trick because that is guaranteed to ruin your Xbox even more although it is a temporary fix.  Call 1-800-4-MYXBOX (1-800-4-699269) and tell a customer support person that you got the RROD.  They will ask for your serial #, and mailing address and send a box to send your Xbox to them and they will repair it if possible or send you a new one for free!  No S & H costs on you either!
