I Am 20 Years Old, working at a salon doing hair. i have been with my boyfriend for 4 years, have told my parents that we are looking for apartments so we can live together. for the past 2 months i have stayed at my boyfriends a few times. I have told my parents about it, and my mom was like "cool just as long as i know where you are at" then my dad calls today and is like "you don't need to stay at his house, i don't agree with it." and i told my dad we were looking for apartments and that it wasn't a big deal and that i have stayed with him before. and he said it was fine that we moved in together, but i am not allowed to stay with him...i am so confused! what should i do?

  1. haha dads gett like that soo much! hes probably just scarred of losing you. i think you should move in with your boyfriend and or do whatever you think is best for you. i mean you are 20 years old! try staying close to you dad as well so he wont think much about losing you!

    =)

  2. Your parents are still looking out for your welfare even though you are 20.  My daughter is 20 and I do the same thing to her.  It is all out of worry.  Maybe they fear that you will get pregnant.  Trust me, they want you to have a full, rich and happy life.  They might not want you to make the same mistakes as they.  As a mom of a 20 year old I will tell you what works best for me and my daughter, talking it out.  If you don't have that sort of relationship where talking is an option, write them a letter or email.  This way they are forced to listen to your version of the story without interrupting you.  Ask them if you can come to a happy compromise.  Ask them why they feel uncomfortable with it and what they expect from you.  Then respond to their feelings.  Do your best to make them feel you are mature and have a good head on your shoulders.  Good Luck to you.

  3. Well, you are an adult, all you can say is that you will be staying with your bf on and off until you can find an apartment.  Be open and tell your dad you are not sure why he doesn't approve of you staying over yet he has no problems with you moving in together.  AND bottom line is, it is none of his business.

  4. gotta leave the nest sooner or later

daddys just gonna have to accept it

    he/ll get over it

  5. 4 years?  TRY moving in with him AFTER HE marries you.

Why buy a cow, when you get the milk for free...

  6. Your Father is right.  Why should someone elses parents be responsible for not just their child, but their childs friends. And if he (your boyfriend), really (Loved) liked you, he would not have you be a burden on his parents. As a man he should be footing the bill.

  7. ur 20 u dont need to listen to ur parnets any more once u pass the age of 18  ur an adult

  8. WELL,your Dad is probably thinking along these lines hon.

He is making my daughter look like a w***e by sleeping with her at his place and not marrying her.

Sounds like you (the daughter)are  going to be on "permanent sexual trial basis".After 4 years you'd THINK he (your b/f) would have proposed by now.Why propose though?Imean why buy the cow when you are getting free milk.4 years of it and now he is going to move you IN with him because YOUR parents do not want YOU spending the night there and it puts a crimp in his s*x life.

At least he can have s*x more now and YOU can help pay the BILLS!

You can play "pretend married" without ACTUALLY BEING married and he can live with one foot out the door IN CASE something better comes along!

Think about it,wake up and smell the reality here hon.

  9. the reason why he said that is becus he could put you out at anytime, but if yall moved in together thn he really cant put you out because it both yall house

  10. Like it or not, as long as you're under their roof, you have to abide by their rules.  The only solution is to save your money, move into your own place and make your own rules.
