Please no stupid answers if you don't actually know dont say anything

Basically we have a chilli plant, its about a foot high, hasn't produced any chillis yet (I don't think, are chillis a root vegetable??) So I'm a bit clueless about how to look after it, it's being kept in alot of light and water. Just a bit curious because we've had it about 6 months and it hasn't really grown.

  1. Peppers don't like soggy soil, so water well, but do not flood them.

Peppers are heavy feeders, so be sure to fertilize with a phosphorus rich fertilizer

Once planted in your garden, your pepper plants will need good air circulation, plenty of sun, and well-drained soil that stays at about 80 degrees Fahrenheit (27C) from planting to harvest.

  2. Guessing from how you have phrased your question, I assume you are trying to grow a chili pepper in Great Britain, right? That is likely to be fairly hopeless unless you employ a green house or live in the far south of Britain. Chilis really need heat, and lots of it. 30-35C or even warmer is necessary for it to grow properly. And lots of sunlight also. I hope this helps.

P.S. Chilis are NOT a root vegetable. They are in the same family as tomatoes, that is, solanaceae, and their cultivation and fruit bearing are similar. Just like with tomatoes, the fruit grows from a flower. Grow them in the same manner that you grow tomatoes and you shouldn't have any trouble.
