How To Make A Homemade Tutu?

Question

I was planning on making tutus, not for ballet or anything, just because they're awesome. (:

I've heard you are supposed to use Tulle, but I checked at the fabric store today and the Tulle only came in cream and white.

There was a material extremely similar, I think it was polyester mesh, and came in about 20 different colors and for about a third of the price.

I was planning on making several layers, gathering each layer then stick the layers together onto a elastic waistband or ribbon.

Would this work?

Or is there an easier or better way?

Something similar to these?

If the first one works, I'll end up making more in different colors and thickness.

It's really easy and there's some more links at the bottom of the page that give you different tutu tutorials.

I don't see why polyester mesh would be any different to tulle - if it's cheaper and more colourful, i'd go for it (:

The cheaper net stuff will work fine. These are just links I found by searching for "tutu tutorial" so look that up if you don't like either of these.
