How To Manage Money For Morons?

I am having trouble in managing money. I am only 14 but I want to nip this in the bud asap. I get £12 a week from my job and £13 from my dad plus £20 a month to spend on clothes and £10-20 to spend on toiletries. I just went on holiday and am having a little trouble my phone bill (that I have to pay) is usually £15 but this month it was £27. I also borrowed money from my dad ; £15. But now I really want a new mascara and some make-up and some shoes. How can I balance out what I'm spending?

So in total I owe people about £42 but the problem is I wont be getting the money from my dad because it usually comes from my dinner money and term doesn't start for a couple of weeks.

I owe £42 and in 2 weeks the most I can expect to get is £24. I also would like to go out and get some new things before term starts. Should I ask for some jobs that I can do so I can earn some extra money? If so what jobs? How can I like make sure I don't have this problem again?

Thanks In Advance x

Alice

  1. You are wise to try to figure this out now at age 14.  Here's the thing, don't spend more than you make.  Since you owe 42 then don't buy anything else until you have repaid the 42.  The mascara and make up can wait.  Even the new shoes can wait.  It would be nice to get those things before the new term but if you don't have the money, you don't have the money.  There aren't a lot of jobs for 14 year olds.  You could ask your parents if there's anything they would pay you to do or see if anyone needs a babysitter.

  2. just control what you spend
