How To Paint Canvas Shoes?

Question

I've seen a lot of painted canvas shoes that look amazing and I wanted to try a pair of my own. Can someone tell me the best materials to use to paint them? I'm looking for a specific brand name that would be good to use and any tips for painting them.

I don't remember the name off hand, but craft stores have these fabric paint markers.  They come in many great colors and I found that I have more control with the markers than I would with a paintbrush.  If you are comfortable with a paintbrush, however, check out fabric paints.  They come in different formulas, so you'll have to pick one that will work with what you're trying to do.  Good Luck.

You can go to your local craft store or Walmart and buy the colors of paint you like in acrylic paints. Many stores carry the Ceramcoat, Folk Art and Americana paints. Then buy yourself a bottle of fabric medium which is usually right beside the acrylic paints. You simply mix your medium into your paint and have fun painting. You could start with something simple like ladybugs just to see if you enjoy it. I have used paint pens and markers but I never liked the way they give an uneven coverage appearance. But you might like the results. It's fun to paint on fabrics. Have fun!
