Question:

How Was The Money Split In The Floyd Mayweather Vs. Oscar Dela Hoya Fight?

I know Oscar made 50M and Floyd made 25M but I had an argument with my brother about the money. He says Oscar only made more because he made 50M off the fight with his promotions. I think that Oscar made 50M off the fight alone and Floyd made 25M off the fight alone. Can someone please tell me who's right and can you please back up your answer with proof because if I'm gonna prove him wrong i can't just say someone on yahoo told me. So show me a link or something.

  1. Around the likes of 50mil because DeLa hoya promoted the fight as well, a lot of people forget that, and floyd made out with $27mil

  2. "De La Hoya was guaranteed $23.3 million and Mayweather $10 million for the fight. With the overwhelming success of the event, De La Hoya could take home upwards of $50 million with Mayweather earning around $20 million."

you're right... they got money because of the fight not because of promotions

  3. De La Hoya made 80 million on the fight total. De La Hoya was guaranteed $23.3 million and Mayweather $10 million for the fight. With the overwhelming success of the event, De La Hoya could take home upwards of $50 million with Mayweather earning around $20 million."

you're right... they got money because of the fight not because of promotions

  4. De La Hoya got a lot more money excluding his promotions. De La Hoya can fight any bum off the street and still gain 10 million dollars. Unlike Mayweather who has a boring style and wont sale as much.

  5. De La Hoya is boxing's only remaining superstar. DLH is gonna be making around $15 million when he fights Steve Forbes this May.
