How West Indies can make it to the T20 World cup semi final, beat Australia by 24 runs
The game between India and Sri Lanka was very exciting for Sri Lankans but not for India who are no longer in the running and will be heading home. The Sri Lankan win is also not going down well with the hosts, it puts West Indies in a very sticky situation.
Chris Gayle and rest of the gang have their work cut out and then some. Trying to beat Australia is almost impossible, especially when they are force to be reckon with. Australia has been undefeated in the first stage of the T20 world cup and in the super 8 stage they have comprehensively beaten India and Sri Lanka.
West Indies lost their first super 8 game against Sri Lanka but done very well to defeat India. Now this final game against Australia is going to be the deciding factor. West Indies would have to bowl and bat out of their skins and Australian quicks will not make it easy.
West Indies only have two points and net run rate is -1.077 which is worst than Sri Lanka who are sitting with four points with a net run rate of -0.333. Sri Lanka is almost in, unless West Indies bring the best of the best to the field.
Here is a summary of how West Indies can still make it to the semi final:
· If West Indies win the toss and bats first or if Australia sends West Indies in to bat; Chris Gayle and Co must win by bowling out Australia within the 17 overs
· If Australia bats first and West Indies bowls first, West Indies have to beat Australia at least 24 or more runs.
Chris Gayle is going to be the key for West Indies and must do what he did last May against the Australians to give any hope to the host nations. This is going to be one interesting game, Sri Lanka is cheering for Australia but do they really need any cheering when they are in such a form. The game is about to start, it should be very exciting. Chris Gayle won the toss and West Indies will bat first.
