Question:

How/Where to meet friends?

I moved away from my hometown a few years ago and haven't really made any friends... at all. The problem is, I have no clue how to make friends in the real world. I never really had to before now... and I am lonely. Meeting people at work is not an option - they are all older and in completely different life paths.

Is there any kind of eHarmony for friends? Ha, I feel like a loser.

  1. Well, why don't you join a club or organization that shares your views or interests? That way you can be around people who share your likes and interests and it will be easier for you to connect with others and make new friends.

Also, there's nothing wrong with making friends at work. Just because their lives are way different from yours does not mean you can't start a friendship with one of them.

Be friendly, kind, nice, and sweet. Don't be rude, nasty, or conceited. Good first impressions mean everything; if you are nice to someone the first time you meet them, they are more likely to enjoy your company and want to be around you.

  2. Meet your friends at school! Or maybe join a sports team. Maybe you can join a dance center in your town or a gymnastics group? If your school has different clubs (like lots of schools do) you can meet people who have the same interests as you.
