  1. I have heard of these occuring on elderly patients who are nonambulatory (bedridden) and these pressure sores (or ulcers) happen on certain points of the body where the weight of the body presses against the mattress.  They form when the patient is not turned or when they do not use an air mattress to help equalize the pressure off of the pressure points.


  2. bone puts pressure on certain areas decreasing circulation to the tissue and it begins to die off
