I have a 13 week old kitten, and he goes potty is wierd places at weird times. He is will go in corners sometimes, and today I was laying on the couch, and he kept trying to get on the coffee table next to me to get at a bowl to l**k it out... so I kept pulling him down and setting him on the floor. All of a sudden he jumps up next to me and pees on the couch... why?? I dont understand, he knows where the box is, he will just go other places at times.... WHY? And what can I do to prevent it?? I always place him in his box, but he insists on going other places? Help!!

Thank you so much!

  1. I'd call the vet he may have a urianary track infection...Good luck with him..I hope all works out well.

  2. has he been neutered?

  3. This is not normal behavior and this is your kitten telling you that there is a problem and he/she needs help. Call the vet and see when you can bring the kitten in? That's the only solution. You must do it or say goodbye to the kitten because it will die if it's an infection that is not treated. That would make you a very irreponsible owner. The longer you wait then the more it's going to cost.

  4. is he already litter trained? he's young so maybe not yet? but if he is, you may want to have him checked for a UTI (bladder infection) or crystals in his urine (they lead to stones)...my cat has NEVER gone out of the litter box, and suddenly started and it turned out to be a UTI which he is currently being treated for.
