Question:

How Will This Sub/Amp Wiring Work?

I'm planning on buying 2 Kicker 12" CVRs for my car with a ZX750.1 Watt Amp.

Here are the subs stats:

* ported hatchback-style enclosure with two 12" CompVR subwoofers

* 2-ohm total impedance

* power handling: 50-800 watts RMS (1,600 watts peak power)

* 32-3/4"W x 16-1/4"H x 17-1/2"D1 x 14-1/4"D2

* warranty: 1 year

And here are the stats of the amp:

* mono subwoofer amplifier

* 375 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (750 watts x 1 at 2 ohms)

* variable low-pass filter (50-200 Hz at 24 dB per octave)

* variable bass boost (0-18 dB at 40 Hz)

* wired remote bass level control

I'm fairly sure that the subs are Single Voice Coil, as other subs state that they are dual. My question is whether these stats for the subs are for each individual sub, or if they are for both in the enclosure?

And since the subs are rated at 2ohm total impedence, and the amp is rated at 750 Watts X 1 at 2ohm, that means that the subs should be receiving 750 Watts compared to their 800 Watts Max RMS, correct?

  1. It's rated for 2 ohm impedance for both subs. It's all wired together for you, you just have to hook up the amp. Yes the subs should be recieving the 750w, but why wouldn't you spend the extra 50-70 bucks and get the 1000.1 and push them. You won't have to have all the gains up or anything.

  2. Yes, it appears the subs are single voice coil (SVC). The combined load of the two 4 ohm SVC's is 2 ohm. That pre-loaded enclosure is givng a total of 800 RMS - each is 400 RMS a piece.

    That amp would work great. Also, like the other answer stated, the zx1000.1 would be Great.

    As I've said before, it's always better to have enough, than to Not have enough and be craving for slightly more.

    It's better to run a bigger amp at Half, than push a smaller amp at 100% trying to get all that you need. Pushing a smaller amp works it hard, and usually only creates distortion at the final level of gain.

    As I've said before, it's always better to have enough, than to Not have enough and be craving for slightly more. :D

    Good Luck!

  3. The sub package you are looking at is dual voice coil. It's 2 kicker CVR dual 2 ohm. Wired series on the coils and parallel on the subs to a 2 ohm final load.

    It also looks like you are looking at a kicker zx750.1 amplifier. which is the perfect match for those subs.
