  1. Purple and red are a classic combination.  Do it!

  2. My first thought~~EW. My second thought would be trashy, then tacky. There is NOTHING about that that screams "cool" or "chic" to me! You may want to reconsider the wall color, depending on how large the room is and how much light actually comes into the room. You don't want to make your room appear smaller by adding such a bold color to the walls.

    Good luck!

  3. It would probably look like a house of ill repute. But if you insist, then allow me to offer some advice. Red is a very dark color which I happen to like in a bedroom. But maybe just one red wall? Do the rest in a tan color. Get your comfortor set in a red & tan color. Use the purple as an accent color. Be so sparing that it hurts. A throw pillow here and a picture frame there should be about enough. When you say purple, I'm hhoping that you're thinking more in terms of a lavender color which would be lovely in this situation, not the deep purple. Incidentally, I had a red and black bathroom a few years back that people still comment on to this day. It was absolutely beautiful. Yet tasteful :)

  4. I painted my walls red last  year! It was really pretty I loved it but I don't like purple with red. They are complimentary colors but its just a personal thing I don't like it. The rest of my room colors were pretty much black and white!

yellow would be a good color w/ red

    have fun!

    **edit**

um, someone said it would take 7+ coats of paint to get a good striking color. that's not true at all. it took me 2 coats and the color was gorgeous.

  5. I think it would be awesome, very chic

  6. Well, I am a gardener and I always plant deep pink (bordering on red) and purple petunias in my hanging baskets.  I think it is a fabulous and underutilized combination.  Go for it!  I suggest deep pink/red walls and dark purple tab curtains and accessories, but nothing too frilly.  Get rid of knick-knacks.  Put up a few simple posters with burnished silver frames.  I think this would go beautifully with your wood laminate flooring.

Edit:  When changing to a deep colour you need to buy special primer.  Then you will need two coats of the new colour.  By the way, colours like this have been used for generations in Britain particularly.  North Americans are very conservative by comparison.  Don't be afraid, try it.

  7. I would call it DRAMATIC, especially strong reds like engine red or crimson and strong purples like eggplant. Hope your room is not so small or dark.

Keep other things simple though. By the way keep a large part of the window uncovered or covered with a light white draperies to allow lots of light to get in.

  8. The ladies from the Red Hat Society would love it!

    They're old, by the way.

You COULD use red and purple together if you used them both sparingly ... but red walls?  That's a LOT of red!  (And a lot of paint, too ... did you know that it can take up to 7 ... Yes, S E V E N (!) coats of red paint to get even coverage?  Especially over white!  You'll need a tinted primer PLUS 4 coats, minimum, of red ... probably more!)

A better color-scheme might be black, white, and red, with just small touches of purple ... or black, white, and purple, with small accents of red.

Or ... skip either the red or the purple, and use another color altogether.  (purple looks gorgeous with yellow or blue ... red looks great with ... surprisingly ... turquoise!)

  9. well i guss you would have to know the shade and the size of you room cuz that makes a big diff

so  idk if it would look good

the way i am thining it would look kinda g*y

  10. I love red walls. I really think purple and red together do not look good.
