Question:

How Would Someone Build A Cockatiel Cage From Scratch?

We have two adult cockatiels we got from a breeder, and they came with a cage. Before-hand she promise us a large parrot cage, which she didn't give us. So she gave us a cage that was designed for a parakeet instead. We don't have a large cage for them, and we keep them in there at night and in the morning, so it's way too small. My Mom can't afford to pay a lot of money for a cage, but we can afford for food and toys, and stuff like that. So I was wondering how could I make a large cockatiel cage for them, and it has to big enough or two cockatiels, and a little extra room for toys. I won't be doing this, adults will. Please help me! I can't stand them to be in such small housing! How can I make them a house out of scratch? And no poisinous stuff like lead and zinc. Please help me! Oh, and also, can it be easy to clean? I don't want them to get sick or anything. And if you have any ideas you want to share, go right on ahead!

Here's my e-mail if you have and ideas or pictures of a homemade cage!

  1. chicken wire and 2X4 is good don't bring branches from outside they can cause mites and other things so wooden rodes from the store works small bowls for water and food and sightly larger bowl used for a bird bath can be set into ply wood by drilling holes of the right size into it.
