Here's the last one for today. Runner on 2nd base with 1 out. The batter hit a HOT line drive back up the middle which reflects off the pitcher's mound and goes directly over the backstop behind homeplate. (Trust me I have seen it happen) What is your call?? 10 Points to the Correct Answerer!

  1. Foul ball, to be a fair ball, the ball must stay in fair territory or stay in fair territory past 1st, 2nd, or 3rd base. It's a foul ball but that type of situation is very unlikely.

  2. a ground rule double.  The runner from second scores, and the batter is awarded second.  :)

Ok, maybe a ground rule single.

  3. Well depending on who the runner on second and the pitcher was then i would say a Dead Ball Single.

  4. The runner on second gets third.  The batter gets first.  It's a dead ball when it goes out of play

  5. Foul

  6. dead ball double

  7. Dead ball single

  8. The ball was never in play because it never hit the ground or was caught by a defender.

  9. i thought it was supossed to be a ground-rule double. I could be wrong though.

earlier this season, a batter hit a hard line drive that went off the pitchers foot and into the stands beside third base. the batter went to second...i just assumed it was a ground rule double call

  10. If it hits the pitcher's rubber and goes untouched into foul territory, it's a foul ball.
