How Would You Start a Shoe Shining Business?

Also, could you do your business from home? Like, could you put an ad in the classifieds, have people come and drop their shoes off, and come back, etc?

get a box and a shoe shine rag and hit the sidewalks in a busy area.. =)

1st go buy the stuff u need but only a lil of each just to get started

2nd put out fliers or put an ad in a neighborhood newsletter or newspaper and as more costumers come refill your supplies but only what you need you don't want to spend to much money on what you aren't going to use.

When I was a teen I had my own shoe shine kit and would go to businesses on the weekends and shine shoes. Mostly bars and clubs.

Most professional places that shine shoes have other services.  They usually use a large machine to polish shoes too.  I would suggest looking into an existing business where the owner is getting on in his years and buying to operation from him.
