  2. There are a few things that work together to help a plane fly:

    1] Force: such as the jet engines that push the plane forward

    2] Lift: the wings are shaped so that the top is in a hump while the underside is flat. Air travels faster on the humped side than the underside; at the same time, the side with faster-traveling air has less air pressure and slow air has higher pressure. The high pressure tries to balance out w/ the low pressure and so it pushes the object up, thus creating lift.
