  1. Thats very interesting..hundreds of years later, in British times, Thomas munroe was the collector of cuddppa.  While travelling late night, Thomas munroe saw a gleaming rope of gold stretched from one hill top to another.the story is as Ram and Sita made their way back from Lanka to Ayodhya, Hanuman went ahead. Hanuman searched for a good place for the royal couple to stop and rest on their journey home. He found a place and He hung a golden rope across  the two hll tops.  That is the hill sir thomas munroe saw. Another interesting point is that there was a garland of fresh flowers encircling the frame of Ram and Sita.  Next to it is framed picture of Thomas munroe. The picture also have the same respect of Ram and Sita covered by in haldi-kum-kum and crowned with flowers.

  2. The legend was that as Rama and Sita made their way back to Ayodya, Hanuman went ahead. He would search a place for the royal couple to stop and rest on their journey home. Hanuman had chosen a cave near a river at Cuddapah. To mark the spot Hanuman hung golden rope across two hill tops. So that from a distance the rope could be seen.Rama and Sita did stop at the cave. Grateful for the Hanuman’s efforts Ram etched  a picture of Hanuman on the stone walls of the cave.

Thousands of years later, in British times, Thomas Munroe was the Collector of Cudapah.Travelling through the hills late one night, he saw gleaming rope of gold stretched from one hill top to another.” What is that?” he asked his companions.” Why is there a golden ring hanging from one hill top to another?” There was a long silence. No one among Munroe’s companion spoke. Finally an elderly man spoke. “He who can see the golden rope is blessed. But he will die in a few months.” Thomas Munroe looked at his companions in disbelief and put the story aside as superstition. But it must have stayed with him. It is said that he even wrote about this in his diary. In a few months time Munroe was dead.

There is a small temple at Cudappah. There was carving of Hanuman on the walls. Till today, Hanuman’s service to ram is being acknowledged, celebrated and worshipped. Out in the main hall of the temple, high on the walls were framed pictures of gods and goddesses. In the center, promptly displaced was one of Rama and Sita. The glass framing picture has been smeared with holy kumkum. Right next to Ram and Sita was the framed picture of Thomas Munroe. Like the god and goddesses around him, he too is covered with kumkum and crowned with flowers.
