  1. Yes, it's not fair.  I don't necessarily agree with what they did with the lip sync thing either.  However, China wasn't trying to HIDE that the girl was lip synching another - the Olympic musical director freely GAVE the little girl credit for being the voice behind the pretty(er) face.  And anyone who actually watched the little girl sing at the opening ceremony could tell that she was lip synching, so this shouldn't come as a big surprise to anyone.

Also, the musical director said they didn't have her sing because "her teeth were still growing" - when does this mean "she was not pretty/image-friendly/cute enough"?  Yes, it can be implied, but it's not what he SAID, and the media shouldn't be putting words in his mouth.  And it's not like he speaks for ALL the people in China anyways!

Famous American singers lip sync all the time - when have you ever seen a famous singer that's ugly, but has a pretty voice?  Yeah right.  And before this, nobody knew of these two little girls, and now they're world famous.  Yang Peiyi, the singer, even said "I am proud to have been chosen to sing."

To be honest, I think the media is disappointed at how 'perfect' the ceremony was, and is trying to dig up every negative image possible about China.  It's sad.  They we just trying to get have the most perfect show possible, to impress the world.  You can't  blame them for wanting to do a good job, yet we are out here bashing them about it.  It's sad how easily people can get  so brainwashed with assumptions.

  2. uhm . Jxdy11 never said you posted it multiple times . so yeah . you don`t have to call her an idiot when you didn`t even read what she said carefully .

  3. Jxdy11, the reason you have to answer the same questions countless times is because there are some people asking the same question with different alias.

all they want is to blame/embarrass China, even tho no country/government is perfect.

the decision was made by the director, but some people just have to make it seems like all of the 1.3 billion people are in for it.

but again, thats how the media in the west tell their story about China, never good news, everything is blown out of proportion, even some of the translations are not correct/accurate. they will interview one person with negative view about China/Chinese and that's all you will see.

some people blame the Chinese government for brainwashing its citizens, but they don't see the fact that they're(like the Americans) being brainwashed as well. everything you see on TV/internet, read in the newspaper or hear on the radio, is sending one message, that the American stardard is the "golden stardard" & every country should follow that stardard regardless the difference in cultural and value.

  4. Actually, they didn't let her.  Neither one had a choice.

  5. It's China . They can do absolutely ANYTHING ..

  6. Since this question has been posted countless times already, I'll just copy and paste my response:

Not everyone in China agrees with this decision. In fact a large number of people are absolutely livid that it happened, including me. However, you need to know that Chinese culture is defined by a community before self mindset. It's different from the way Westerners think, but it doesn't make it wrong or bad. In this case however, while I understand what they were doing, I don't think it was necessary at all. There is definitely some little girl out there they could have found in the huge population that has both the cute face and singing talent. Finally, I'd just like to point out that this is not a China thing, it's a human nature thing. All you have to do is look at Hollywood and who gets rich and famous. Don't pretend that superficiality doesn't figure into that picture...worldwide. They've even had Pavarotti, a man of pure talent, lip sync during one of the past Olympic ceremonies. It doesn't make it right, but it should make it easier for you to understand why.

Cher: I wasn't the one who accused you of having more than one alias. I simply stated that this question has been posted many times, which is the truth. I don't doubt that this is the first time you posted it. No need to get nasty.
