Question:

How about Steve Smith with a star on his helmet?

The Panthers are sick of Smith's antics, which most recently included a punch that broke Carolina DB Ken Lucas' nose, and the Cowboys have made it very, very clear that they'd love to have an elite receiver opposite T.O.

OK, so a deal would make sense, right? So what should Jerry give up to get Smith?

  1. Steve Smith in a Dallas uniform?  Hey, if you are good enough then you are always welcome here.   Fighting in practice?  That used to be part of practice.  Smith is an amazing receiver.  Underrated by the sports writers.  He would be great in Big D.  Jerry Jones is a real man who treats his players like real men.  Jerry would pay a reasonable price.  Sure beats waiting on some rookie to decide to sign a contract and go out and break a nose.

  2. Even though this probably wont happen. As much as i would love for it to happen. Really if he did come to the cowboys he would probably clean up his act a little. And it would not be that big of a deal if he left the Panthers because they just got Musin Muhammad.

  3. A deal would make sense if the Cowboys gave up no less than 2 first rounders and 3 other picks for Smith they would make the deal but no team will trade away 4 to 5 players for 1 elite WR in the league. But does anyone know why he broke the guys nose or why they got into a fight to begin with maybe Lucas deserved it but only those 2 know what really went on so saying Smith was at fault is not a good thing when there are 2 sides to the story and Lucas hasn;t said a word about it. Yet i get my nose broke i'm not out of work for 2 weeks friggin whiny arsed football players make me sick!!!!

  4. Does not make sense. TO wouldnt have it , Steve is impatient and TO would get under his skin to quickly! again NOT A CHANCE!!!

  5. The Panthers aren't that sick of Steve Smith...Dallas would have to give up quite a bit to get one of the top receivers in the league.  There is no way that a deal like that would go down.

  6. What makes you think they are sick of him? He has done this before, but this isn't like its a everyday thing with him.  Why would they trade their best player?

  7. Not much!

  8. ya, an a*****e hothead who likes to fight with his own teammates.  he'd fit right in in dallas

  9. I don't know what the Panthers' needs are, but a trade (perhaps between multiple teams, if possible) would ideally mean giving up Roy Williams and draft pick(s). It could be one of those "classic" trades that benefits all parties involved. At this time, Steve Smith is probably too valuable. But i don't know, I mean have you seen what great players with problems cooperating are going for these days? Shockey for a second- and fifth-rounder? Jason Taylor got traded for a second- and a sixth-rounder. And if Carolina is prepared to suspend Smith for two games (one against San Diego) in a league where one game can make the difference between making the playoffs and missing them, well it appears they must not think he is THAT valuable.

  10. Steve Smith isn't going anywhere. Carolina isn't going to shoot themselves in the foot. They realize Smith is the best player they have on offense and they just signed Muhsin and DJ to take some of the pressure off him. And in my opinion, Lucas is just as much to blame as he started this vendetta back in 2005 when Carolina acquired him. It's been an ongoing thing, and I don't think it'll get any worse than this incident. Simply put, Steve Smith will be in Carolina until he demands a trade or becomes a free agent when his contract extension is up (through 2012).

  11. + the fact that the cowboys are full with fellow thugs smith can enjoy.

  12. A first rounder and, Marion Barber.

A Running Back who can't finish a complete game for a Wide Receiver who can't start training camp.

the first rounder, is just a kicker to make sure Jerry, is really interested.

seriously though, it IS possible. Smith's criminal tendencies, are beginning to return. this should raise Jerry's interest.

  13. Steve Smith to Dallas would be so stupid for the Panthers.  As much as people hate to think about it, if Delhomme stays healthy all year, the Panthers are a playoff contending team and give away arguably their best player to a team in the same conference would be dumb..

  14. If Dallas gets serious about getting Steve Smith this year they will have to give up someone just as good really, draft picks, maybe someone on D but the Panthers will ask for a lot if they want to trade him.

  15. smith play when he wanna act how he wanna and do what he wanna. give the thug up first chance they get

  16. Okay buddy get your facts straight The Panthers are not ready to give up Steve Smith. Your just a sad cowboys fan.

  17. I don't think the Panthers are that sick of Smith's behavior.  The players and coaching staff have both made it clear that they've forgiven Smith.  He'll remain a Panther this season.
