How about a HD Sportster 1200N for a first bike.?

Would like to know what your thoughts are for a HD Sportster 1200N for first bike for a big guy?

you wont be comfortable on a sporty. might work if you get forward controls for it.

I don't think Sportsters are a good first bike for anyone, regardless of how good they look on it.

I would not suggest a HD as a first bike to anyone.

They dont handle well at low speeds, where you need the control.

Buy a used one, a few years old, that way when you fall over, you wont be out that much.

has mid mount controls, if you're bigger you'll not want your knees up.... nice low bike, but will need $200 bucks spent to put fwd controls on

Try a Japanese cruiser, its going to be cheaper to buy and run

If its first bike you will drop it at some time so get something cheap and used to learn on then decide if you want a Harley for use or the 'image'

Sportsters tend to make a big guy look even bigger. I would suggest a softtail as a first bike.

good choice,  might need big mans seat and foward contols, also mini ape hanger handle bars.  son has one i'am 6' tall and weight 280# nice ride.

By the time you spend the money required to make this bike fit you with forward controls, upgraded seat and perrformance mods you could buy a Victory 8 Ball and be much happier with performance and comfort.
