Which V8 engine (I do prefer American horsepower) would be best suited for mounting in a Datsun 1982 280zx?

  1. Dave's V8 1979 280ZX 2+2 Project.

  2. LS-1 motor or the LS-2 with 6 speed tremec transmission. The all aluminum LS-2 actually weighs less than the L-28 your removing. The only problem is you will have to launch carefully because the 200/300 hp rear end won't like 400 hp and 400 lb ft of torque

  3. i've seen a 240z with i think a supercharged 350-  insane!

the good thing about the old dattos is they have massive engine bays.

you could probably take your pick of the v8s for it-  maybe just get some measurements on the heights of motors.  or check the net for what other people have done.

i think this is the first time on yahoo answers i've seen someone wanting to do a mod which is actually cool.

    theres no substitute for cubes!

  4. I've seen a corvetter motor in them with a supercharger, and a few other things on it as well.  Think it was an LS1 in there.

  5. The best way to go would be to put a modern aluminium high tech V8 in there.

    Nissan themselves make a few.

    VK56DE

I think some of these are actually made in America, so there's your "good ol' Yankee muscle" right there. the VK56DE is very similar in capacity to a Chevy 350, but better built and more fuel efficient.
