Hurricane Warning
by C.S. Scotkin
Seen from above by satellite,
by satellite she now is seen,
now is seen a cartwheel of white,
white angry clouds on TV screen.
On TV screen the warnings come,
warnings come, prepare today,
prepare today, be sure there’s some,
some pure water, for which I’ll pay.
Pay for gas, for charcoal, as well,
as well, the candles all are trimmed,
ready for darknesses, the spell,
the spell that’s cast when lights are dimmed.
Lights are dimmed now but by my will,
by my will all chores shall be done,
shall be done and much better still,
better still, packed, ready to run.
Ready to run to higher ground,
to higher ground if I must go,
if I must go I will be found,
be found with friends I love and know.
Worry not much, virtual friends,
virtual friends who are so dear,
who are so dear, and when this ends,
and when this ends will all be near.
