How about a playoff within the BCS conferences?

Of course this could work. I would make it where the Big East improves to ten teams though that way all conferences will have 10 to 12 teams. This makes it 66 teams. By moving Penn St to the Big East and snagging Central Florida from CUSA gives them 10 teams. And a 6 team playoff format.

With the 5 current bowls used , this fits the playoff format perfectly.

The top 2 teams in the country get first round bye's by being placed

in a bowl waiting on the winner of the first bcs bowl and the fifth and final bowl is the national championship. So from last year standings we would have. Oklahoma,,Ohio State,LSU,West Virginia, Virginia Tech,USC.

Best two was Ohio State and LSU

so lets say OSU gets the Fiesta bowl awaiting the winner of the Rose bowl winner Oklahoma-USC game.

And LSU sits at the Sugar bowl waiting on the winner of the orange bowl winner of the West Virginia-Virginia Tech game.

Then battle it out from their.

  1. I believe that this is a good idea for a playoff - in theory.

However, theory is in conflict with the hard reality of the bowl game organizers and the university presidents who don't want to see their precious little "gravy train", if you will, derailed by a playoff.

Still, this is a good idea, and it makes sense to me, both as a fan, and from from the standpoint of interest for the media.

  2. when are people gonna let this go...its gettin annoying.

  3. There will never be a playoff and there's no reason to establish one.

80% of fans fail to realize that these players are students who have classes and the same challenges that face most college students. Opening up a playoff system would extend the season and hurt academic accomplishments for those individuals who aren't going to make it to the NFL.

A playoff lessens the importance of the regular season.

A playoff kills the intensity of the games.

A playoff fixes no arguments. Then you have speculation for who gets the No. 8 spot between 6 9-3 teams instead of who gets the No. 1 and  2 spot among 3-4 11-1 teams.

    It's an asinine suggestion.
