How about baby clothing for long and skinny babies?

Spin-off question to big and tall clothing for babies. The problem I am having is my girl is 8 months between 16-17 lbs and over 26 inches long. The women in our family have no bums-lol and she seems to have inherited this from us. The 6 month pants are too short- I rarely can find 6-9 month pants but again are often too short. She can not keep the 12 month pants up, they are a perfect length but fall down to her ankles because they wont stay on her waist. Help- Any suggestions

  1. i have the same issue with my son- who at 8 motnhs was 28 1/2 inches and 17 pounds and now at 16 month is about 31 1/2 inches and 22 pounds

  2. Believe me, I feel ya. I have the same problem. And it only gets worse as they get older.

My 3 year old daughter is very tall and has no hips! For pants, the size 2T fit her waist, but are way too short. The size 3T are great in length, but are huge on her waist. There's nothing I can do but put her in the 3T. Belts don't help either, they just add extra weight and make them fall down even more. Some brands do make adjustable waist, but why do they have to be so darned expensive? I have no problem with shorts though. She can wear anywhere between size 18 month to 3T, depending on how they're made. Shirts seem to be okay, for the most part on her. But, most 3T dresses are huge, so she wears 2T.

It's crazy I tell ya! She always tries on her clothes anymore before we buy them. The good part about that is she doesn't mind. At least she isn't fighting me in the dressing rooms.

EDIT: lol... yeah the belts are a pain. I even had to poke more holes in them because she's so skinny, only to find out they just make the pants fall off anyway. Also, I've tried the suspenders. They make those things extremely long, you almost have to double them to fit. So, then you can't really put it underneath their shirts because it bulges out. And wearing them over the shirt, they just fall off her shoulders. Oh, and not to mention, they are not a good idea when you start potty training. lol

  3. I have the same problems with my son... very skinny and tall and no bum lol fortunatley most of this was during summer months so he could just wear shorts. now that it is getting colder here I am having a hard time too... 6 months are too short but fit perfectly everywhere else and 12 months are too big on his waist. I have been making sure he wears a onesie under his clothes and putting the waistband on his diaper instead of above. This helps a little and the pants slip off less because they are on a onesie instead of skin.

I will be watching this question closely for other tips too :)

    Good Luck

  4. I have no suggestions but I did have this problem with my son because he is very long and slim and we always get comments regarding his pants. "Are they long shorts or short longs?"

  5. im in the same situation, too! i like to use the pants as capris, theyre so much cuter than pants for the summer! now, my babys only six months, and we havent made it to the winter yet... im thinking about a belt to hold the big pants up, or cute tights under her jeans to show off where shes "flooding"... i dont know what were gonna do. i hope you get some good answers to help me, too! lol.

  6. Giggle.com is one of the best sites for all baby products in all sizes!!….they have an amazing interface and a ton of content and products……Here is a link for some discounts as well if you are interested… http://bit.ly/NLNse

  7. The last time my 11 mo was measured he was 29" at 9 months. He's in the 90th percentile and wearing 24M onesies and they look like potato sacks on him.  I think he'll be wearing feety pajamas in the winter well into kindergarten and when that stops working I'll just cut the feet off.

  8. You can try and find pants with loops and do like a ribbon belt on them to keep them up?? just make sure the ribbon doesn't frey and it shouldn't be that hard to tie it like you would your shoes for now and put the tie behind her or on her side that way little fingers don't get it...

My 17 month old is tall and skinny and it wasn't fun trying to find pants for him either..luckly at wal-mart, jcpennys, sears, and some other places the clothing has an adjustable waist on them and you just pull them until they are tight enough and button the thing...

  9. I have the same problem with my son. He is 8 months now and is 30 1/2 inches tall and skinny!! All his pants will be to short but if I but a size bigger they will fall right down lol. I would like to know the question to this answere too!

  10. i have the same problem. my daughter has just hit 12mos. since 10mos she has been in a 12-18 that fitted in length but too slack on the waist. what i do is just nip the waistband in a bit with needle and thread. sorted.
