It's been a long day...........a not-so-good day either. But then I remembered there's this thing called "hockey" that always seems to cheer people up. So while I watch 'Slap shot' I thought why not ask some questions....

1. Which NHL player do you think would do best on "Who wants to be a Millionaire"?

2. Who do you think will win the Central Division this year?

3. How about the Atlantic division?

4. How high are you're expectations for Kyle Turris?

5. Describe the biggest hockey homer you've ever met in real life:

6. Do you think Ray Emery will ever make his way back to the NHL?

7. Which former NHL player do you think would make a good NHL commissioner?

8. Do you think Mats Sundin should just hurry up and make up his mind or do you agree with his waiting game?

9. What was the worst signing in your teams past?

10.You are offered two jobs which do you take

A)Become the head scout for your least favorite NHL team

B)GM for your favorite team's minor league

  1. 1. Igor Larionov - His nickname is "Professor"

    2.  Red Wings

    3. Flyers

    4. He'll be rookie of the year (sorry Stamkos)

    5.  Me.  I've lived in California for 8+ years, and I will always be a Flyer fan

    6.  Sure, as an equipment manager

    7.  Gary Dornhoefer.  He still loves the game and likes the physical play.  Plus, I'm pretty sure we'd see the end of my pet peeve, the instigator rule.

    8. I think Mats should just buy Ikea and retire

    9.  Chris Gratton

    10.  B.  You've got to be kidding on this one.

  2. 1.) Igor Larionov looks like an evil genius.

    http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/5042/...

    2.) Detroit Red Wings, easy

3.) Devils!  They were only 2nd in the Atlantic last year, but having getten used to Brent Sutter's coaching style and all the new players, in addition to having Rolston and Holik to the team the Devils should do MUCH better.  Plus the Pens lost Hossa, Malone, and Conklin (very good backup goalie).

4.) Pretty high - he's a really good player.  Too bad he and Mueller are both centers.  If not, they'd give Toews and Kane a run for their money.

5.) This kid in my grade is a Rangers homer.  He always yells DEVILS SUCK! to me, and kept commenting how bad the Devils were and making excuses for the Rangers even after the Devils swept them in the 2006 playoffs.

6.) No.  If they sent him to Russia now, no team in the league will ever want him back.

7.) Steve Yzerman or Mario Lemieux.

8.) He should just hurry up and make up his mind.  Didn't he keep his no trade clause this season?  So why doesn't he just stick with the Leafs?!

9.) Recently it was that whole Matvichuk/Mogilny fiasco.  Now we're stuck having to pay Matvichuk and Mogilny went to the AHL and now to who knows where.

10.) GM for my favorite team's minor league.  I want to in no way help the Rangers!

  3. 1) Now, I have a feeling about this... it would be... George Parros!

    2) Ideally? The Hawks. Realistically? Probably the Wings.

    3) Umm? It's the offseason and you're trying to trick me into these kind of predictions? :b (Just kiddin'!)

    4) Not as high as my expectations for Pat Kane or Sam Gagner. Maybe that's crazy. Maybe I'm crazy. Loool.

    5) Hmm... probably some crazy Pens-loving yinzer actually. Or most of the Buffalo Sabres fans I've met.

    6) Possibly, if he cleans up his act and is a good little goalie over in Russia.

    7) Hmm... Stevie Yzerman? He's been learning about the business side of things... It seems like commissioners must have a pretty good knowledge of not only business but law as well though. So what former players have gone to law school? I might start there.

    8) I don't think that's something he should rush... but he definitely shouldn't pull a "Scott" or a "Teemu".

    9) Too many to count if I really thought about it. Aleksey Morozov. Shane Endicott. Josef Melichar.

    10) Ohh, tough choice... It would seriously depend where I am in life and what the factors are that would affect what choice I make. I guess "A) Become the head scout for your least favorite NHL team" would be an easy choice if being a head scout at the NHL level means making more money than being a GM at the AHL level. Besides... my least favorite team AND my favorite team's minor league affiliate are on the same side of the same state!

  4. 1.  Former players included...Igor Larionov aka "The Professor"

    2.  Detroit

    3.  Pens

    4.  Dont really have expectations

    5.  Its too hard to remember them all since most sports fans are in fact homers.  I know I was before I started coming on here.

    6.  No

    7.

    8.  His life, his choice.  If teams are putting all their eggs in his basket, its their own fault if they lose out.

    9.  Uwe Krupp

    10.  A,  become the head scout of my least favorite team.  I would be horrible at either job so I would be better off s******g up my rival team than my fav team.

  5. 1) Nik Lidstrom. Great Swedish educations system

    2)Red Wings

    3) It will be a dog fight between the Pens and the Flyers. The Pens will probably take it

4)Very high. He is really good

5)There is one old lady that goes to Panthers games that actually sewed sequins on her Panthers jerseys logo. She did it all by hand. She is at every home game and is kind of well of. Second row seats and all. Always gets a Jersey in the auctions. Not to mention the sequined matching hat

6)Maybe , but he has to grow up first

    7)Stevie Y

8)He needs to decide and stop torturing his fans.

9)Chris Wells and then I would say Gary Roberts and Todd Bertuzzi. All did nothing for us at all.

10)GM of minor league team. Like that power.

  6. 1. Didn't George Parros go to Princeton? And I heard Crosby had an 80's average in high school. So maybe one of those two.

    2. The Stanley Cup Champs have only improved their roster this offseason, so of course the Detroit Red Wings.

    3. Pittsburgh Penguins

    4. I think he will be one of the best players in the league in the future.

    5. The Leaf fans on facebook are pretty stupid. They always say the bad fans are the ones who want the Leafs to tank and rebuild and how the Leafs will win the Cup next season. Idk about real life.

    6. Depends on how he plays, if he's good and doesn't do anything stupid then yes.

    7. Wayne Gretzky would be the obvious choice because he's already an ambassador for the game and I don't think there would be bias.

    8. As long as his decision isn't made halfway into the season I'm fine. This is a difficult decision and shouldn't be made with haste.

    9. My team is the Leafs so can I really say just one. At the moment, McCabe's signing is really annoying.

    10. GM and then work my way up the ladder. I would never want to be associated with the Sens in any way, shape, or form. Ever.

Heavysoviet: We have an Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire as well. The host also hosts Are you smarter than a 5th grader, some other shows, and he is the best Indian actor ever. What can't he do? Woooo SRK!

  7. 1.Ryan Miller

    2. Detroit

    3. Pens

    4. Same as they are for anyoen else being touted. Someday I'll learn how to spell that word.

    5. This guy Chris I used to work with. I actually saw him yesterday at an amusement park...92 degrees out and he's wearing a navy blue Sabres hoodie. Idiot. The only reason I even know he has even heard of another team is because he has a signed Ovechkin jersey from the guy himself...who he now claims to be identical twins with. Total loser.

    6. I don't care if I never hear another word about him, and any team that would take him is retarded

    7. Big Wayne, as opposed to Lil' Wayne

    8. I understand his emthod, but teams aren;t holding otu forever, so start talking

    9. In recent history, the trainwreck that is Andrew Peters

    10. As Ottawa's ehad scout, how much influence do I have to recruit super suckers?

  8. 1. Which NHL player do you think would do best on "Who wants to be a Millionaire"? Gary Roberts

    2. Who do you think will win the Central Division this year? Wings

    3. How about the Atlantic division? Rangers, sorry Kate

    4. How high are you're expectations for Kyle Turris? I'm thinking 50-70 points this year

    5. Describe the biggest hockey homer you've ever met in real life: One of my clients. He said the Sharks would sweep their way to the cup.

    6. Do you think Ray Emery will ever make his way back to the NHL? Nope, he's gone for good.

    7. Which former NHL player do you think would make a good NHL commissioner? Gretzky, Messier

    8. Do you think Mats Sundin should just hurry up and make up his mind or do you agree with his waiting game? Waiting game is fine for him.

    9. What was the worst signing in your teams past? Kyle McLaren

10.You are offered two jobs which do you take

A)Become the head scout for your least favorite NHL team

B)GM for your favorite team's minor league

I'd take B, GM for minor league. I've always thought that it'd be fun to be a GM.

  9. 1. Kyle Wellwood he even looks like a scholar.

    2. Detroit

    3. Pittsburgh

    4. He's going to finish top ten rookie. That's the best we can predict now.

    5. Harold Ballard.

    6. Yes

    7. Trevor Lindon

    8. Let him take his time at least he's not like Brett Favre.

    9. Owen Nolan. Four years top pay including the lockout for one year's mediocre output.

    10. B. being the Marlie's Boss would be a hoot.

  10. 1) Igor Larionov (oh wait he retired? OK hmm .. Jeremy Roenick .. the guy went to prep school, he's gotta have somewhat of an IQ)

    2) Blackhawks

    3) Rangers

    4) Pretty high. He and Mueller will be the sunbelt's response to Toews and Kane.

    5) Bobby Clarke as many of you as Flyer fans know the man bleeds orange + black

    6) Maybe but for his own sake it would have to be in an area where hockey isn't the local obsession. He's got talent - but off-ice activities have eroded some of them. Happens to a lot of people.

    7) Igor Larionov: intelligent, respected, and understands both the European and North American mentalities. Plus he speaks English and Russian (possibly other languages) which is a big advantage in the league these days.

    8) I could care less, but I know Gainey won't pay him more than $6-8 million a year.

    9) I always look back to taking Doug Wickenheiser when we coulda had Denis Savard

    10) a) Head scout for my least favourite NHL team Toronto as I can always work my way up. Look at Frank Selke!

  11. 1. Any Russian Player. We have our own version of "Who wants to be a Millionaire" in Russia.

    2. Detroit.

    3. Washington. LOL not even going to bother, I am just going to say the Washington, who cares if they are in the Southeast.

  12. 1. Nick Lidstrom

    2. Red Wings

    3. Rangers

    4. High.

    5. There's a kid in my school, he plays hockey and he is terrible. He has Bruins sneakers and all that c**p. He told me this year that the Bruins have the best defense in the league and that they're completely loaded in every aspect. He says Kessel is top 5 offensive players in the league and that Tim Thomas is the best oalie in the league, after this I proceeded to laugh...a lot.

    6. Probably.

    7. Gordie Howe. Bobby Orr

    8. I's pretty smart waiting, but for my personal benefit, I want him to hurry.

    10. Minor League GM

  14. 1. Any one of them with a personality.

    2. Detroit.

    3. Either Ottawa or Montreal. The Sens solved their internal politics with the players, were humbled at the last half of the season, so they'll be much better than last year. And this coming from a Leafs fan.

    4. Um....normal?

    5. Any given Torontonian.

    6. Yep.

    7. ???

    8. It's his choice and this waiting game matches his personality and previous signings. So, yeah, I agree with it. If he deviates from the pattern, I'll start questioning whether or not he was cloned....

    9. I'm a Leafs fan...just think of one. lol

    10. I'll go with the GM part. That side of hockey interests me more than the scouting part.

  15. 1. I think that Jerome Iginla would do good.

    2. Detroit maybe?

    3. Pittsburgh

    4. Not very high he is a rookie on a team that won't be great and he has not proven himself.

    5. Probably the guy outside a Tampa Game, taking a leak, supposedly in the exact image of Boyle at the time. It was weird but funny.

    6. Possibly if he works really really hard.

    7. Yzerman

    8. I think he should hurry up, what is the point of the waiting.

    9. Dan Cloutier? Roman Checkmanek? I'm sure there are other really bad ones.

    10. definitely A
