  1. I found this for the name Camilla spelt with two 'L's

    camilla

English and Italian: feminine form of the old Roman family name Camillus, of obscure and presumably non-Roman origin. According to tradition, recorded by the Roman poet Virgil, Camilla was the name of a warrior maiden, Queen of the Volcians, who fought in the army of Aeneas (Aeneid 7. 803-17). The masculine form is much less common, except in Italy, where it is bestowed in honour of St Camillo de Lellis (1550-1614), who founded the nursing order of the Ministers of the Sick. Cognates: French: Camille (also m.). Polish, Czech: Kamila.

    Short form: English: Milla.

    Pet form: English: Millie.

Masculine forms: Italian: Camillo. Spanish, Portuguese: Camilo. French: Camille (also f.). Polish, Czech: Kamil.

    Hope this helps.

  2. "It'sjustme" pretty much said it all, but if you don't like the nickname "Millie," you can be "Cammie."

  3. The name Camilla originates from Latin and means "altar server". It derives originally from a term designating attendants in Roman religious ceremonies. In the nineteenth century it gained its greatest fame as a result of the novel and play by Dumas, The Lady of the Camellias, which served as the basis for Verdi's opera La Traviata and several films including Greta Garbo's Camille. It is a pet name and not the given name of the heroine, and the Latin root has no relation to the flower that is her symbol. The flower Camellia was named for Georg Joseph Kamel, who first described it in the 18th century. Kamilah has also its origin in Arabic (كاملة), in which it means perfect.

Variations of the name include: Camella, Camila, Camilah, Camile, Camille, Kamila, Kamilah, Kamilla, and Kamille.

Short forms: English: Cammy, Cam, Milly, Milla. Slovak: Kamilka.

  4. This is not a genealogical question.
