How about this cage?

Okay the lady said he cage looks exactly like this (except it is not on wheels). She wants $50 for it.

Do you think that is a good deal (it may not be the same exact cage so the price could have been cheaper then what is shown.) and do you think it would be suitable for 4 female rats?

  1. Good for the price, not right for rats. It may be way to big for them and hard to climb up the levels.

  2. The cage looks to be a really nice size.

If your girls are anything like mine they will explore every inch of it in no time.

The only reservation I would have is that it only seems to have 2 small doors, that could make life a little difficult if they decide to hide! Which will probably happen alot to start with.

My advice is to look at it if you can, can you get your hands in to reach most corners? Does it come apart easily for cleaning? Are there any gaps where your girls could wrigle thro?

Everybody has different cage preferences for their rats, it looks suitable generally so it's down to personal preference.

    The price sounds right too!

  3. Generally that cage looks fantastic!

It is a great size (no cage can ever be too big!), solid floors etc. In many ways it seems brilliant, although I have never used on personally.

I would be concerned about the bar spacing though, especially if your rats are on the small side. Try to find one to see for real (rather than a picture) so you can get an idea of far apart the bars really are. Do not buy it if you are not sure - you don't want your ratties getting their heads stuck or escaping!

  4. you don't have a link. but i say go for it, it seems reasonable and if you think it's big enough then why not? good luck!

  5. That should be fine for 4 rats. :)  Double check with the rat calculator, but I *THINK* that cage can hold a maximum of 5 or 6, so your rats will have tons of room to play.

  6. yeah it looks like the right size to give each of the rats its own space so they dont fight and $50 is a great price for such a big cage. Just as long as none of your rats can get through the bars of the cage, you need to make sure of that because you dont want your rats running through your house getting lost..lol...good luck:)

  7. NO, i had that cage for my rats. they all went up to the 3rd level & didn't move! they pooped & peed up there. & with super pet cages, they have little indentations on the levels so pee & p**p can get caught in there. it's annoying as heck to clean. that cage has to be cleaned every two days for it to not to smell & to keep the rats healthy. i suggest you save you're money for a ferret nation cage. i saw one on cagesdirect.com for 165 & petsmart matched that price. & it's so much better to clean :)

& also with that super pet cage, it's hard to get into the levels since the doors are tiny, but it's up to you.

oh & the cage can hold up to 10 rats.

EDIT; & you're going to have to modify the cage, the bar spacing is WAY TOO BIG for a rat!
