took a pregnancy test at a doctors office (pissed in a cup, she stuck in the strip) and there was a very faint line, to the point where i had to really get close to see it. And she says I'm pregnant

On my way home i bought like 4 different tests, First Response Gold (Early Digital Results $21.99) -- EPT Certainty Pregnancy Test ($19.99) -- Clear Blue Easy Digital Prengancy Test ($19.99) and First Response Early Result Pregnancy Test ($18.99) ....

all are saying negative.

  1. Wow, You really shouldn't have spent sooo much on all those tests.. Ok well 2 would have done - I would have advised that you take 1 test in the morning with your 1st urine as this is at its most concentrate and if that wasn't positive then I wouldn't advise testing for another couple of days..

I would usually say that the Doctor's tests would be more reliable but all those pregnancy tests that you bought are pretty expensive and were all negative.. So I would definitely question the result at the doctors! But it is very very rare to get a False Positive!-

So it really is very confusing, You need to go back to your Doctor in a couple of days to discuss this and repeat the test - But take your 1st urine sample with your for him/her to test!

    Best of Luck!

  2. MY DOCTOR ONLY USES A NORMAL PREGNANCY TEST CALLED PREDICTOR THEY ARE ALL THE SAME. MAYBE YOUR HORMONE HCG IS VERY LOW BUT YOU STILL ARE PREGNANT. YOU CAN GET A NEGATIVE POSITIVE TEST BUT YOU CANNOT GET A TEST THAT IS POSITIVE IF IT IS'NT GOOD LUCK

  3. It could also be the time you were testing. If you get a faint positive on the first test, most likely any test taken after that during the same day will either read fainter or negative. A Dr's test is more accurate than over the counter brands. Although there is a possibility of a false positive, it's best to have the dr. do a blood pregnancy test. These are the most accurate of all.

  4. The doctors tests are usually more accurate as they detect even the slightest levels of HcG.  The over the counter/store bought kind measure a lot higher levels.  If a nurse/doctor said you are pregnant, then you are.  Even a faint positive is still a positive.

  5. Did you use first morning urine with each of those tests?  False positives are very rare.  I can't believe you spent so much money on pregnancy tests!  The dollar store ones are just as accurate as any of those and obviously a lot less.  If you didn't use first morning urine, retest with that.

  6. A doctors pregnancy test is about as accurate as u can get!!

  7. doctors tests are more accurate that over the counter breands. but if all are saying negative you probably arent pregnant but go to the doctor to put your mind at rest

  8. The doctors use the same exact tests as you can buy in the pharmacy.

  9. Here's the truth of the matter... a pee-on-a-stick test is the EXACT same thing as what you get at the doctor.  Many times, a doctor will do a blood test if within the 1-5 week range, depending on your Last Menstrual Period date, aka LMP.  Obviously, the blood test is as accurate as possible because it's sent to a lab and the hCg is found at a level and then put into brackets-- which shows you a range of dates for how far along you are.  Either way-- if the 'pee-on-the-stick' test that you took had ANY line whatsoever in the 'test' window... there is enough hCg in your urine to test positive.  That means POSITIVE.  The odds of the test going awry is slim to none.  Go to your doctor for a blood test OR wait another week and test again.  You'll see...
