well we've all received the emails and heard the rumors of things like hiv infected hypodermic needles being stuck to the inside of gas handle pumps and other unbelievable and ridiculous urban myths but, how do we know that snopes.com is really accurate?.....shouldnt we just type snopes.com into the snopes search engine?.....seriously though what make it the be all, say all, end all in our quest for the truth?

  1. For the most part they try to be accurate, but I would keep it as a secondary (not primary) source and do a little research myself before I accept their answers. They don't mislead us intentionally, and they do provide their sources.  They do have a slight political bias, so be careful to look elsewhere for neutral political answers.

  2. Snopes is not accurate all. They get some silly stuff right. But on the real serious things. They miss too much too often.

    I do not trust snopes.

  3. If you look at the bottom of each page, there are sources listed such as assorted newspapers and books.

If you have the energy to ponder the accuracy of Snopes, then surely you can do a search for these articles.

  4. snopes is 100% accurate.

  5. They are usually accurate concerning most hoaxes, but they will twist some political items because they ARE biased, I've caught them numerous times. There are other Sites besides Scopes, Break The Chain, Urban Legends for example.

  6. It is pretty thoroughly researched, names are given, etc. If those two can't prove or disprove they tell you.
