  1. W.O.T.T.

  2. Oh dear god....where do you start lol

  3. He didn't

    It was Hollywood remember?

  4. hmmmmmmm, well i think for a start they should have done some research, some history classes, and when a battle is called sterling bridge, have it on a bridge

  5. Not very well

  6. From what I read about the movie, I guess it was very good. But movies will always take "artistic license" to make the movie look good.

  7. around 2% accurate,

  8. The film was such a travesty difficult to know where to start pointing out errors. Scots still painting themselves with woad in 13th century - mel looked like a baboons backside- Edward 111 the illegitimate son of William Wallace, scots and irish fighting together at Stirling ( in fact the scots sent to Ireland made themselves more hated than the English and were booted out).  The film panders to scottish nationalism by airbrushing out Wallaces atrocities eg   mass slaughter of civilians - admitted to by Wallace at his trial - making a sword scabbard out of human skin etc. The film itself overrated though it starts well- many of the battle scenes seem to be the same shots repeated. Basically braveheart is just another Mel Gibson sadomasochist extravaganza.

  9. 'Accurately' and 'Mel Gibson' do not really belong in the same sentence!

  10. Putting Wallace in tartan is like putting George Washington wearing feathers and swinging a tomahawk.

  11. His potrayal of Wallace was accurate in a Hollywood way and the film covered all the events that took place ,all be it with a little Holywood pizazz and a few extra fictisious scenes thrown it.

As someone who has always had a keen interest in European history I have no problem with films like this ,as it gets people interested to know the real history of both the man and the time .

I would love someone to do a similar film on Edward the first of England ,The guy was bad thru and thru and writers could have a field day

  12. Braveheart one of Hollywood's finest fairy tales!!!!

  13. I believe he portrayed  William Wallace in a fairly accurate. Although Mel Gibson thought he was too old to play the part of William Wallace.

The film won five Academy Awards at the 68th Academy Awards, including the Academy Award for Best Picture and Best Director, and had been nominated for an additional five.

Academy awards say a lot about movies, And this one did well, so it must have been good

  14. He did a GREAT job at portraying William Wallace. He is a good actor. :]

  15. The movie was awful just like made us english look stupid when in actual fact we won more battles than the scots, and as for the bit when he shouts freedooooom before getting ripped apart and all the english look sad and guilty hmm somehow i think they would of been cheering.

And even don't get me started on "the patriot"

  16. Not very.  The broad stroke of events shown in the film was sort-of accurate, but Wallace was a minor Anglo-Scottish nobleman, not the glorified football supporter the film portrayed him as.   However, he must have been a very strong-willed man.

  17. As a film, Braveheart was magnificent.

As an accurate portrayal of historical events it was total garbage.
