  1. Here are some examples I can think of:

    1) Adult expects them to do rubbish-so child may delibarately mess it up or not make an effort because they think "why bother making an effort" or if their confidence is knocked they may delibarately fail=its almost a control issue-if they make themselves fail then they controlled that whereas if they had tried and failed (as everyone expected) then they genuinely failed and will feel even worse!

    2) Adults put a lot of pressure to pass-child may turn to drugs, drink, etc to help them study, stay awake etc which can obviously spiral out of control!

    These are too extremes!  


  2. Adults expectations of children can in deed effect the child. They may feel a failure if parents push them to much because they want them to be the best in something. Parents should be fully aware that a child requires praise whether they have failed or passed something. Expecting to much can lead children to become depressed and feel unloved. It can also lead them to rebel when they get older.
