...every single job requires past experience? It makes no sense! I need a job but every job requires experience. Well how the h**l am I suppose to get experience when no on will hire me because of a lack of experience?

I graduated with a double major in creative writing and video production and no one in Indiana will hire me for squat...even the hourly wage jobs at fast food restaraunt pick people based on experience. How messed up is that?

I want to leave Indiana but my parents wont let me because they cant afford it. But no one will hire me to work so I cant afford it either. Plus, I'm mildly autistic so I have that going against me.

I'm thinking about going to grad school for video production but I'm not gonna earn any money doing that I dont think. Even if I get an internship I will probably be in the same mess I am now.

Why is society so stupid like this?!!!

  1. Make business connections at college, and keep in constant contact with them. This could lead to a job offer down the road also Visit career fairs at your local college and make an effort to meet prospective employers.

and have favorite teachers write letters of recommendation

  2. Your first job out of college is always the toughest.  Be prepaired to move and take ANYTHING in your field.  My first job after I got my masters was working at WalMart.  You gotta eat right?  It allowed me not to be homeless or starve, but also I had some cash when I did have to move 3 hours away for that first "real" job.

PS: Don't tell people you are "mildly autistic" in the interview.

  3. don't let you r parents lead your life.  If you can find a job outside of the area go for it.  You are an adult, stand on you r own feet and go for the brass ring.

Also, look outside your degree area for a job.  My child got her first job at Career Builder as an outside sales rep.  Her degree was in advertising,

If jobs are hard to find in your area you need to move on.

As far as autism, we all have problems, Don't ear the problem o n you sleeve, just do your best.
