  1. Baby birds only eat during the day dear. They do not eat at night. Think about it do you see mom birds looking for food at night and feeding. Babies need to be fed from dawn to dusk about 12 hours. Feed every 30-40 Min's. You should really take this baby bird to a wildlife rehabber or a vet that accepts wildlife. It is free and they know how when and what to feed and then when to release back in the wild. Should be feeding hand feeding formula and chopped meal worms that you get at pet store. Not water as it can aspirate it and die. Make sure it is warm and stop feeding as soon as it gets dark outside. I have raised many and rehabbed many. Good luck and hats off for helping it. :)

  2. firstly tis illegal to raise native migratory birds, plese find a LISENCES wildlife rehabilitator first thign in the morning (call your vet and local animal control ect)

he shouldnt be eating at night.  however he will be ready to eat again at SUNRISE!

  3. um...maybe you can like one of those bottles that if you press on the little ball on the end it lets some of the water out and put the baby food mixture in it and then just hope that it will poke at it. other than that i don't think you are gonna get much sleep. unless you have someone else that is willing to help you out with the cute little birdie.

  4. Baby food watered down is not enough for him. Good advice has already been given. A professional could help you more. Also there are a lot of bird formulas on the market, you could try one of those. A thicker consistency would be more satisfying and hold him longer. You should not have to feed him thru the night.

  5. Wild birds do not eat at night, Feed it every 15 mins from 6am-7pm.

Babies are very difficult to keep alive, it needs to be warmed so that it can digest the food properly, if you over feed it, It will develop problems when it's older,

Do not feed it any milk products, birds do not drink milk, they are seed and grain

I use my coffee grinder, I add dry cat food, grind it to a very fine mix, I add warm water to a consistancy of water, for the first few days, then start adding less water as time passes,

I use a syringe, grab the birds little beak very gently, sometimes just a tap will get the baby to open up, Then I squirt the syringe mixture down it's little throat, you have to be very gentle,

For it's habitate, I use a small animal carrier, I place a heating pad on the bottom and then a towel folded many times over it,

The bird needs a warm spot and a cool spot, It will move to the side it prefers on it's own, even when it's very little,

I have raised wild birds, for about 7 years now, I still can't get over the amt of work it takes,

After the bird gets about 4-6 weeks old it will be ready for seeds,

To get them to eat the seed, you have to tap the seed box with your fingers, They see your hands as the feeding source (mothers mouth)

As they see your fingers "eating" the seeds, they will do it also, they learn by example,

If you are planning to let the bird go back into the wild, do not expose the bird to dogs or cats. They will not realize the dangers as they are older.

    Good luck to you!

  6. Every 3 to 5  hours is sufficient if you  have the proper food mix for it.

  7. i love this question and you sound like a concerned parent thats so cute. :) Good luck with the baby and i hope you raise it to be a great little birdie:) AWWWWWWWW im so glad you taking care of it we need more people like you in the world :)

Good luck 2 u and 2 the baby bird

  8. You can spread your feedings out to 1 hour apart. Increase the amount you are feeding by 50%. Make sure the food isn't too cool or too hot.

This is why I tell people to not bother with a baby like this.

  9. Baby birds do not get fed by their parents overnight.. adult birds sleep at night, so baby birds sleep at night as well..no need to feed it overnight.  Are you even sure this bird needed rescueing?  Please read the following advice:

If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly.   You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it.  If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest.  Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched.  If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival.  Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.  Look for a rehab here:
